MY BACKGROUND

I originally went into medicine to discover the causes of disease and to heal, and trained at the Royal London Medical School graduating in 1986. I left the N.H.S shortly after dissatisfied with its emphasis on disease management rather than prevention, and its lack of compassion. I decided to train further as a Wellbeing Physician and began studying a variety of complementary therapies that would help me in preventative medicine and healing.

I began first training as a counsellor and therapist with Southwark College then the Chiron school of Bioenergetic Psychotherapy. Here I learnt how to heal the heart, mind, and soul through talking and listening rather than drugs. I also learnt how to follow emotion energetically in the body as it moves up the spine through the avenue of expression and sensing where it gets stuck. These courses profoundly developed my intuition and compassion as a doctor, and inspired me to create integrated stress management programmes.

I also trained as a personal trainer with the YMCA and American College of Exercise. From here I went to City University in 1992 and co founded the first university diploma in personal training, teaching there for a decade on integrated stress management. Exercise is fundamental in any self empowerment programme and is the core of stress management and anger catharsis.

I subsequently studied nutrition at the Institute for Optimum nutrition, and thereafter numerous courses on nutrition for doctors. As a wellbeing consultant I was horrified by the levels of vitamin and mineral deficiencies in my patients and their appalling eating habits. Nutrition is a fundamental in any wellbeing programme and food diaries are a key component in analysing stress management and comfort eating habits.

In 1996 I entered Harley street and cofounded the first centre for Integrated Medicine there. Here as Wellbeing Consultant I facilitated an integrated team comprising a general practitioner, cranial osteopath, therapist, physiotherapist, acupuncturist, massage therapist, and 8 personal trainers. We worked together as a team offering wellbeing, stress management, weight loss, back pain and rehabilitation programmes for private patients.

After leaving Harley Street I began training in Applied Kinesiology, a form of osteopathy that looks at the muscle, organ, meridian, and nerve associations in the body, and through muscle testing communicates with the soul of the body. It’s a comprehensive science of communicating with the body and many chiropractors, osteopaths and some doctors have trained in it.

In 1999 I started my long training in Craniosacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute, the largest training body in craniosacral therapy worldwide. Here I learnt to listen to the tissues, and the stories that scars, tumours, old injuries tell, and how to channel energy for healing.

I followed this up with training in Visceral Manipulation, a form of craniosacral therapy that works deeper on the emotional body. Here I learnt how organs moved, how to listen to them, and release the emotions trapped within them restoring their motility. I also learnt how to listen to the arterial tree, the coronary arteries, the aorta and the heart, and how to release emotional tension from within them.

I also trained in Triune Processing, an extremely deep form of craniosacral therapy on the soul body that focuses on releasing past life trauma stored in the thymus gland, the seat of the soul. Through this profound form of healing I learnt how to work on the soul body and developed Soul Therapy, a new form of craniosacral therapy that treats soul retreat from shock, major surgery etc.

I joined 3rd Space Medicine in Piccadilly in 2001 and helped to integrate a large team of doctors, physiotherapists, kinesiologists, craniosacral and massage therapists together with the personal trainers. I also helped create some of their integrated disease management programmes. I now offer this expertise at creating integrated healthcare teams and programmes for wellbeing and healing centres nationwide.

My research for the past 15 years has been studying how to integrate body, mind, heart and soul in healthcare. I have studied and experienced many different fields of complementary healthcare to understand what role they play in Integrated Medicine. I have also developed comprehensive Genesis Wellbeing Screens to help Doctors screen all facets of lifestyle - exercise, pacing, nutrition stress management, and emotional balance.

I practise now as a Wellbeing Consultant and Craniosacral therapist in London supporting colleagues working in Integrated and Preventative Medicine, and Surgeons in private healthcare.
